In Their Shoes is a unique production and workshop that celebrates and promotes unity in diversity and sensitively explores issues around extremism. A play written and produced with multi-faith partners, it is in itself an example of what can be achieved when different people come together and use their abilities for the same goal.
The Spots and the Stripes have always hated one another for no real reason other than that they are different. After a particularly heated argument with a Spot, one Stripe is convinced that she must find people who can help her stand up to the Spot. However, as she searches she meets characters who tell her stories from different cultures and religions about how it is possible to get along, despite being different. As she listens, the Stripe is challenged to spend time in her neighbour’s shoes and see a potential friend, instead of an enemy.
“The show was fantastic and really reinforced 'British Values'. All schools if they have the opportunity should get Saltmine to perform 'In Their Shoes' to their year 5 and 6 pupils.”- Primary School
“The actors were amazing...so professional and thoroughly engaging. The message delivered was clearly understood and supported our own Catholic teaching and ethos as reference could be made to scripture and Parable of the Good Samaritan. I really look forward to welcoming your group back to St Edward's soon.”- St Edward’s Catholic Primary School
