Each year we take a small group of interns on a journey of faith, growth and opportunity. An internship with us gives insight into the world of theatre. Working with a team of professional writers, actors and directors, interns can expect to gain a range of new skills and grow in existing strengths. Designed for 18+, and perfect as a next step for graduates, our internships are about more than just maturing your acting abilities; we're keen to see performers developing in hope, creativity and purpose. Internships run from September, like the academic year.
What will I do?Part of a team delivering faith motivated arts throughout the UK, you'd be using and developing acting and performance skills alongside professionals. Each day is different, and work can vary from theatre in education performances and workshops to sketches and family shows. Saltmine Theatre Company is involved in all sorts of conferences, national events and special occasions throughout the year. In addition, you'll be a part of the work that goes on behind the scenes, with opportunities to pursue skills in costume design and set building.
What skills and experience do I need?You'll be a confident performer, able to demonstrate versatility in a variety of roles. Along with identifying with our values, you'll be eager to develop in your acting ability and grow in your faith. You'll come with a desire to use your extra abilities where appropriate, refining existing skills in things like singing, instrument playing, design, public speaking, writing and administration.
What would Saltmine Theatre Company provide?In addition to your travel, training and management, we'll provide local accommodation close to our office and rehearsal space, and we'll commit to paying over half of your accommodation cost. You'll learn on the job, with input from directors and senior actors. You'll be given training with a professional vocal coach and you'll receive pastoral and professional support from mentors as part of your discipleship.
What's the cost?As a contribution towards the training and management for one year with us, we ask interns to raise a minimum of £1,800 prior to the start date in September. We also ask you to contribute £100 per month towards the cost of accommodation (we'll pay the rest). To help you manage your living expenses we ask that you raise funds for a minimum £200 per month living allowance (this will be paid back to you monthly, and will help you manage your budget for food etc).
