“To combine running (which I love) and raising money for a cause that I’m passionate about was amazing. Saltmine tackle the very biggest issues affecting young people today such as knife crime, internet safety, bullying and extremism.” David Sheffield, 2019 Saltmiler
As we find ourselves in another national lockdown our Theatre in Education programmes have continued to be affected in ways no-one could imagine or predict. Due to COVID-19, we have lost the opportunity to tour in schools to educate thousands of young people through the creative arts.
However, we have used this unexpected season to evolve as a company and explore and develop a new online educational business model.
Whilst complying with restrictions last year, we were able to produce a filmed online resource called Wonderland, which focusses on the issues of mental health amongst young people.
We are shortly going to be launching new primary and secondary school interactive educational resources to help tackle the issue of internet safety, coinciding with Internet Safety Week (8th-13th February).
The use of the creative arts during this season to help educate and support virtual learning online is needed now more than ever before. Saltmine invite you to join us as we journey through continuing to reach young people on such vital issues.
With the London Marathon taking place on Sunday 3rd October 2021, we have 3 Golden Bond places available for you or your friends to take on the baton to run 26.2miles for our Theatre in Education work. You can run the marathon in the heart of London. We are asking each of our runners to raise £2,000 to cover the cost of the Golden Bond place (£330) and to raise £1,670 to help fund our creative arts work in order to impact and empower young people’s lives.
By fundraising £2,000, you will make it possible for Saltmine to continue to reach young people across schools through online and live performance when possible, whilst also securing your place in the limited prestigious Virgin Money London Marathon 2021 and having your very own personalised running vest.

Run with a purpose
You've seen the past, will you be a part of the future?
This was one of the best and toughest things we've ever done. The atmosphere was incredible!
Ben, 2019 Saltmiler
Running was a big challenge for me but knowing I was doing it to transform young people’s lives really kept me going during those times that I wanted to give up.
