“To combine running (which I love) and raising money for a cause that I’m passionate about was amazing. Saltmine tackle the very biggest issues affecting young people today such as knife crime, internet safety, bullying and extremism.” David Sheffield, 2019 Saltmiler

This year has affected Saltmine's Theatre in Education programme and schools in ways no-one could imagine or predict. Due to COVID-19, we have lost the opportunity to educate thousands of young people on the pressing issues they’re facing.

However, we have used this unexpected season to evolve as a company and explore and develop new ways to continue to meet the needs addressed by our Theatre in Education work.

At present, we are working on creating a new Theatre in Education production which focusses on the issues of mental health amongst young people. In parallel with this, we are adapting our existing shows to comply with the restrictions we predict we will face beyond this season.

With the London Marathon taking place on Sunday 3rd October 2021, we have spaces available for you or your friends to take on the baton to run 26.2miles for our Theatre in Education work. We are asking each of our runners to raise £2,000 to help change young people’s lives through the creative arts.

By fundraising £2,000, you will make it possible for Saltmine to continue to reach young people across secondary and primary schools, whilst also securing your place in the Virgin Money London Marathon 2021 and having your very own personalised running vest.

Running was a big challenge for me but knowing I was doing it to transform young people’s lives really kept me going during those times that I wanted to give up.
