Following a 20 year career in the IT Industry, David worked as Clerk to the Governors at a local Further Education College before joining Saltmine in 2014.

Creative Arts Coordinator

Studying English and Drama at Royal Holloway College, Joanna is one of our longest serving staff members and works to get us and you to the right place at the right time.


After serving for 12 years on the Spring Harvest leadership team, speaking and event planning for the largest Christian Conference in Europe. Rachael then moved on to get her Masters in Applied Theology and Leadership before joining us in 2010.

Facilities Manager

Steve is a retired police officer who after volunteering at The Birmingham Passion Play now joins Saltmine as the Facilities Manager, serving the team.


Chez has been a freelance photographer for 10 years and has worked with clients such as The Guardian, Ella’s Kitchen and The British Council. He studied Photography at Falmouth University and has been with us since 2015.

Design Lead

After studying fashion in Amsterdam for a year, Bethany went on to do a degree in Fashion Design at Falmouth University. She is now the brains behind the beauty of our costumes and set.

Lead Actor/Director

After completing a Foundation Degree in Community Evangelism, Ben is now our longest serving current actor. With thousands of performances under his belt he started directing for us 3 years ago.


Born in Bedfordshire, Katie completed her degree in English and Theatre at the University of Sheffield to join us as an intern in 2017.

Freelance Actor

Theo was born in Birmingham and studied Theatre and Professional Practice at Coventry University. He has worked with Saltmine for two years performing in many of our Theatre in Education shows, such as Switch Up, Stand For It and In Their Shoes.

Sound Engineer and Technician

After finishing a Diploma in Popular Music and Worship (Live Sound), Jacob became a freelance technician before joining us in 2016.

Lead Actor

After completing a degree in Ancient History at the University of Reading, Freddy joined us in 2012. He has toured thousands of miles with us in thousands of performances over the past 6 years.

Freelance Actor

Born and raised in Birmingham, Andre studied and trained at Birmingham Theatre School. He works in TV and film and has been a part of Saltmines Switch Up production about knife crime since 2019.


Minister, secret actor and voice over pro, Dave also creates all of our multi-media content.

Artistic Director

Caroline has been a theatre maker and director for the past twenty years. Recently working with the RSC, Birmingham Rep and Women & Theatre. Alongside her professional theatre work she has directed a number of large scale community productions.

Freelance Actor/Director

Marcel trained at Birmingham School of Acting and went on to become a freelance actor. He has been with us since 2015 while continuing his freelance work.

Finance Administrator

Starting as an apprentice in printing, Phil then went on to be the director of his own print and design business for over 30 years before joining us in 2014.

Digital Communications Lead

After completing a degree in Media & Communications at Birmingham City Uni and spending a year working with Agape UK, Sandeep has joined us as our Digital Communications Lead bringing with her a breath of the fresh Black Country air.

Graduate Actor

After studying Applied Performance at Birmingham School of Acting and previously helping Saltmine on various projects, Hayley now joins us as a graduate actor.


Whilst growing up in Cape Town, Sam was home schooled before falling in love with acting and now joining Saltmine to pursue this.

Graphic Designer and Website Maintenance

Starting off with a degree in Fine Art and Design, Franco went on to become a graphic designer and has been freelancing for the past 10 years. Contracted by us in 2012 this Italian is behind our website and artwork.

Freelance Actor/Director

Emily is currently freelancing with us. She has worked with Riding Lights and Little Blue Monster, and has a BA Hons English Literature and Language degree from Oxford.

Alys trained at Lecoq in Paris and has an English BA from Cambridge and an MA from King’s College London. She has worked with Saltmine since 2016.


Since graduating from the University of Surrey, studying on the Tonmeister course, Sophia has been a freelance sound engineer for nearly 3 years. She now joins our technical team and has been working with us since October 2019.

After training at Birmingham Stagecoach Performing Arts School, Adrian spent his 20s building his family and pursued acting in his 30's. He is an original member of Saltmine's knife crime production, Switch Up.

From Derby originally, Daniel studied Applied Theology and Performing Arts at Regents Theological College and for the last two years has been working as a freelance actor. He started working with Saltmine in Christmas 2019.

Rowmell first freelanced with Saltmine in The Birmingham Passion Play 2019 and also enjoys singing, dancing and poetry. After acting for 8 years, he describes Saltmine as the place where his faith and passion meet in one place.

Administration Assistant

After working in London and studying in Dorset and spending 20 years building the church in central Asia, Teresa joins Saltmines admin team. She has three boys with her husband.


Nathan has been on the board since 2018. He works in the charitable sector and enjoys spending time with his family and supporting Spurs.


Lesley is the UK director of Agapé and has been a part of our board since 2014. When she's not helping shape Saltmine Trust she can be found watching movies, reading and eating with friends.


Iain joined the Board in March 2019. Professionally, he helps people move into self-employment. He is involved with several Christian initiatives focussed on community transformation. Married to Nicola, they enjoy horse-riding together.


Andy joins Saltmine's board of Trustee's whilst also being the Chief Financial Officer of Leeds Building Society.


Dan is the CEO of The Mercian Trust, a multi academy trust of schools serving communities in Walsall and surrounding areas. Dan is a keen musician and enjoys spending time (watching football) with his wife Lisa and their two boys.


A board member since 2009, Paul is our current Chair. He is a retired solicitor and church leader and enjoys building relationships with his children and grandchildren, and playing golf.
