“I brought my non-Christian friend and Christian family to watch. Both parties left in awe and utterly moved.”- Audience Member
After two years of development, the two weeks of final rehearsal time for The Liberator fell immediately in the wake of losing Marcel. How could we face telling this story of death and resurrection while in the first shockwaves of our own grief? The same way that Jesus’ friends journeyed through theirs – together. Marcel had been so excited for the project, and his vivid encouraging spirit felt very present.
It was a joy to finally get The Liberator out in the world, particularly as our first performance was for our friends at Spring Harvest Holidays who were brilliantly supportive: “I brought my non-Christian friend and Christian family to watch. Both parties left in awe and utterly moved.”
So far, The Liberator has travelled from France to the Edinburgh Fringe, to a church in Wolverhampton and to a reclaimed cinema in Torquay courtesy of Unleashed Theatre. It has been amazing to experience the impact the show has had across these diverse audiences. We are convinced in the transformative power of telling God’s story and are looking forward to partnering with churches seeking to reach out with this creative vision.
