What will I do?

As an Acting Intern, you will be part of a team delivering faith motivated arts throughout the UK, you'd be using and developing acting and performance skills alongside professionals. Each day is different, and work can vary from theatre in education performances and workshops to sketches and family shows. In addition, you'll be a part of the work that goes on behind the scenes, with opportunities to pursue skills in costume design and set building.

As a Tech Intern at Saltmine Theatre Company, you will become part of a creative team bringing meaningful theatre to communities across the UK. Your internship provides a balance of hands‑on technical training, real touring experience, and opportunities to grow both professionally and personally. Working alongside an experienced technician, you will gain a strong foundation in the core areas of technical theatre production.

What skills and experience do I need?

As an Acting Intern, you'll be a confident performer, able to demonstrate versatility in a variety of roles. Along with identifying with our values, you'll be eager to develop in your acting ability and grow in your faith. You'll come with a desire to use your extra abilities where appropriate, refining existing skills in things like singing, instrument playing, design, public speaking, writing and administration.

As a Tech Intern, you'll be a capable and resourceful technical lead, able to demonstrate versatility across various production disciplines. Along with identifying with our values, you'll be eager to develop your technical proficiency and grow in your faith.

What would Saltmine Theatre Company provide?

In addition to your travel, training and management, we'll provide local accommodation close to our office and rehearsal space, and we'll commit to paying over half of your accommodation cost. You'll learn on the job, with input from directors and senior actors. You'll be given support from a professional vocal coach and receive pastoral and professional support as part of your discipleship.

What's the cost?

As a contribution towards the training and management for one year with us, we ask Interns to make a £2000 donation to Saltmine prior to the start date in September. We also ask you to contribute £150 per month towards the cost of your accommodation (we'll pay the rest). You will be responsible for raising the money needed to pay your living expenses for the year – we suggest a minimum of £200 per month.

How can I fundraise?

To cover the costs of your internship and your living expenses you may need to raise personal support. Below are some ideas from past interns and recommendations from us:

• Complete a sponsored event (one girl did a sponsored swim through the lakes of the Lake District)
• Ask your home church to support or take an offering for you
• Host an event (quiz, concert)
• Ask friends and family members to donate monthly. It is important to have a group of people who will support you prayerfully and financially during your internship year.
